Newborn Photography In Home vs In studio| Jacki G. Photography LLC | Family & Newborn Photographer | Richmond,

When you first find out you are pregnant it feels like you have all the time in the world. You’re careful not to start buying things too early and wait longingly for each scan to see that little face. And then, in a flash 9 months has passed and your baby is here. A great way to capture those early moments to remember forever is with a Newborn Photo shoot.

I used to be know as the In home newborn photographer. As of this year, I want to make the switch to in studio newborn photography. I used to bring the studio to your home but since I have gotten older 51 yrs and had a surgery late last year it just isn’t feasible for me to travel like I used to. I’ve been in business for over 11 yrs. I have photographed hundreds of newborns, babies and families and I think its time to make the switch. I can still come to your home but the price will be different. I will still offer on location outside photography.

In home sessions are going to be more expensive than studio sessions. Your photographer needs to plan and gather all of the appropriate props, pack up all of her equipment, travel to your home, set up the equipment, break down and pack up the equipment again, travel back and then unload the equipment and props again. She also needs to be skilled to handle different lighting scenarios and be able to work around other obstacles a studio photographer does not have to encounter.

A studio photoshoot gives your the opportunity to relax for a few hrs. There is no need to worry whether your home is clean. You just need to get yourself to the photographers home studio and remember to take anything you’d like to include in your images. I have a wide variety of props, outfits and wraps for a newborn that are all sanitized and cleaned after each session.

My home studio is cleaned and sanitized after each session. I have a large prop collection you could choose from if you decide to change your mind during your session. The lighting is consistent and we don’t have to worry about moving furniture and taping up your windows. I have a few games the siblings could play or an echo view they could be entertained after we have photographed them with the new baby or a parent could take them to daycare.

I will still offer lifestyle newborn photography but that is not my specialty I have many years training and have gone to conferences as well as 1:1 mentoring with the top newborn photographers in the US.

I have photographed maternity, newborns, and babies up to one year old and beyond n my studio. I have many backdrops for families and the littles one to choose from as well as burp cloths and more at my home studio.

I look forward to working with you in 2023!

Introducing K. 7 days new| Newborn & Family Photography| Jacki G. Photography| Richmond, VA

What a gorgeous little peanut! K. was definitely small, but she rocked her new baby photo session.  I love all the neutrals from her session with some soft pops of color. She slept for a majority of her session, Big brother was so good with her. He was so proud and make sure to check out the stunning parent images from her session. I know she’ll cherish those when she gets older. Congratulations to this beautiful family of four! I loved meeting you all and can’t wait to see how she has grown as the months go by!

I was on call for a birth and when I received a call from Carrie who was past due she said she might be in labor and will keep me posted. I had a newborn session scheduled for that morning so I decided to photograph the newborn and be home by 11 a.m. just in case she called. I txt her and she said she was going into the hospital around noon. I arrived about 5 min after she did. She was amazing while laboring and her partner, doula and nurses were supporting her….She labored for less than hr and gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby boy. She was a rock star! Here are just a few of the images I captured as she labored.

I first met Meg at Panera to discuss my idea of birth photography and newborn photography . We hit it off and she signed the contract right there. We chatted via email a few times and discussed the type of birth photography she envisioned. Meg was scheduled to be induced on the 10th of April. So, being on call was much easier since I knew what day I would be photographing her birth. She was admitted into the hospital around 7 a.m., she was 4 cm. and they broke her water. I figured since it was a induction this would take a while even though this was her second pregnancy. Needless to say she was a rock star and delivered her baby only 3.5 hrs after being admitted into the hospital. I can share a few great images from the birth.

I look forward to photographing little W. next week for his posed newborn photography session.

I fell in love with this sweet, beautiful family the first time we met.  I photographed the birth of their first baby and had the honor of photographing this babies as well.   This was the most lovely experience , working alongside two incredible birth workers Midwife and their doula (Amy). The birth was fast and amazing.  Patricia was a Rock Star!   The family chose not to find out their baby's gender until the birth.  I hope you love reliving the day E. came earth side just as much as i have while piecing their story together.

Look who came to see me today.  Baby Tucker,   he has grown so much since his newborn session.  He is now 6 months old and almost sitting unsupported.   I love this age and stage.  Generally these babies are happy and quick to smile and are quite inquisitive,  its a pretty cool age to make sure you get documented with a professional photographer.  I generally suggest waiting until baby can sit on his or her own to really make the most of the session.

Little Tucker was such a sweet heart.  I can't wait to see him again.

Birth Photography

I have always had a passion for photography and babies, pregnancy etc.  So i combined my talents and have finally found my passion.  To be present at a miracle and document this miraculous event is an honor.  I have photographed several births and was in aww.  To present the parents with a story of how their family began is really special.

Why hire a birth photographer?
The photos from your labor and delivery will serve as a beautiful reminder of one of the most important days of your life. Allowing The Birth Photographer to handle this very important task will not only free up Dad or your other support person to be more available to you during your labor and delivery, but it will also ensure that his or her participation is captured on film. Dad won’t have to worry about taking photos, so he’ll be better able to enjoy the moment right along with you. He can be a more active participant. It’s definitely a day worthy of documenting.

About birth photography
Birth is very unpredictable, and the lighting is never ideal. These are not portraits. Jacki photographs births in a photo journalistic style and prefers to use black and white images for your slideshow. The black and white images better reflect the mood of the event, and they help to tone down the graphic nature of birth.
