Welcome to the world O. 6 days new. I love when I get to photograph families as they grow….I photographed O. Big sister a few years ago. Baby O. was a dream to photograph. Here are some of my favorites from her session. These sessions take place in the comfort of your own home.
Introducing sweet little Alex. I photographed his sister a few years ago. She was such a great big sister during the session. Here are some of my favorites from their in home newborn session!
I first worked with Mercedes and Ryan for their first maternity session and newborn session with their first daughter. I was thrilled to hear from Mercedes again letting me know she was pregnant with her second child, a baby girl. They loved their experience with us and wanted to work with us again for her new daughters session. I absolutely love seeing my clients throughout the years for different sessions as their family and children grow.
Since Mercedes had worked with us previously, she knew exactly what to expect from our time together.
Baby A. was a great sleeper and BIG sister M. was only 17 months old but made my job look easy photographing them both.
Newborns are just so squishy and warm and basically perfect. Now that my little ones are much older I soak up these sessions and it helps me remember how quickly time flies. He was a complete champ and slept the whole time, and here are the beautiful results!
I met the cutest baby boy with the sweetest parents a few weeks ago. Sweet baby W. was born right after Thanksgiving. I arrived at the hospital for his fresh 48 session. When i walked in the room i was not only greeted by his elated parents but also members of his very proud extended family. I loved getting to meet so many of the people that love him so much all at once.
Then a few days after his Fresh 48 session, I photographed his newborn session at his home which is very convenient for his family so they don't have to leave their house. He was just the perfect model for his newborn session.
So in the ever growing world of newborn photography there are zillion poses and positions we photographers persuade our gorgeous models to wriggle into to achieve the cute images that are so popular, but there is one that seems to be the holy grail of many photographers...the frog pose.
lts a divisive pose, with some loving it, and some hating it. But whatever your opinion of it, there is one thing that is vital to remember. No baby can hold that pose on his own. Fact. So, great care must be taken to ensure no baby is harmed or upset when doing it. Personally, l refuse to accept the stance that in the right hands a baby will balance. l don't care.....no, l REALLY don't care! l don't care if you can get a baby to balance in the pose.....letting go is dangerous!
So how do l get the images l do without ever letting go? Well, firstly l needed to know l could be skilled enough in Photoshop to allow me to merge the necessary images together. Then l had to know l could persuade the baby to settle happily in the necessary position. l didn't even attempt the frog pose until l was over two years into my career. l was not prepared to ever try it until l could be sure l could do so safely.
Not every baby will do the frog pose. Part of doing it well and safely is developing the skills needed to know which will, and not trying it with those who wont. That all comes from reading each baby. They are all different, and a huge part of what l do involves getting to know them a little bit, and if l'm honest, loving them a little too.
Once l think a baby will do it, l ask the parents if they'd like me to try. As l said, not everyone even likes the resulting image. l wouldn't ever do it without asking. So each time its done, the parents are helping or an assistant is helping hold the baby. You will see that each frog pose l have done is of a baby happy, relaxed, comfortable and sound asleep. No matter what pose l do with a baby l am gently moving arms and legs, hands and fingers, gently moving and using lot of gentle motions to get baby to leave them where l want for the images. This pose is no different. l gently move baby until l am happy baby is relaxed and settled. lf l try and baby doesn't want to do it, l don't push it. That's totally ok, and sometimes l try and then don't get the pose, even though l thought baby would.
Once baby is in position, l have my assistant or parent gently support baby with one hand and take the images. then they hold baby wrists with the other, moving the position of their hand in between. They NEVER let go. hands are on baby at ALL times. You can see the two images l take below, and how l then use them to create the finished image.
You can see that even as hands are moved, baby remained totally relaxed and asleep.
So, if you love the frog pose, and would like your photographer to do it for your baby, please don't be afraid to ask them if they do it as a COMPOSITE. They'll know what you mean. Ask them to show you images like the ones above. lts your baby. PLEASE don't assume that just because they claim to be safe that they are.
The industry isn't regulated, and probably never will be, so its important that you know how to keep your baby safe during the session, and especially when doing this very clever, but very skilled pose.
Beautiful Newborn baby girl! She was an older newborn and slept like a champ during his session. This little stunner was simply perfection during her newborn photography session. She had a couple quick snack breaks but other than that she slept right through allowing for lots of great shots. I hope you enjoy the sneak peek.
I photographed the M. family a few months ago and just recently V. asked me to photograph her maternity session and newborn baby. I was honored to document the new addition to the family. Enjoy the sneak peek.

Oh, Miss Aditi, 10 days new and just ! This sweet girl breezed through her sessions and owned each setup I custom designed just for her. The neutrals with a mix of soft girl colors brought out her beautiful complexion. Aditi was a posing natural!
“Enjoy the little things in life, Because one day you will look back And realize they were the big things.”
Newborn sessions hold a special place in our heart. The ridiculous amount of love and happiness that fills the home always brings back a flood of memories of our own special time. There’s nothing more exciting than a brand new bundle of joy, and despite the lack of sleep and endless diaper changes, everyone is in awe of this sweet little bundle of joy.
Those first days with your newborn is such a special and memorable time. These are your first moments of parenthood, and they are priceless! A newborn portrait session is the perfect way to capture the beauty, sweetness, and intense emotions of this special time as timeless art. We love getting to know each of our clients, and creating custom art that will be treasured forever!
Beautiful Everleigh was such a pleasure to photograph. I feel pretty fortunate to call THIS my job. Congratulations to Tricia and Brian. You guys are beautiful on the inside and out! Its been a pleasure getting to see your family grow and documenting your life for the past two years. Best wishes to your beautiful family! Enjoy these memories we captured <3
Just three years ago i photographed this families first daughter's milestone pictures. Today i photographed their new addition to the family Addi. I felt like i was photographing her Big sisters pictures all over again! They looked so much alike, both sweet and adorable. Here is a few from Addi's newborn session. Stay tuned for more since they purchased the milestone package as well.
I fell in love with this sweet, beautiful family the first time we met. I photographed the birth of their first baby and had the honor of photographing this babies as well. This was the most lovely experience , working alongside two incredible birth workers Midwife and their doula (Amy). The birth was fast and amazing. Patricia was a Rock Star! The family chose not to find out their baby's gender until the birth. I hope you love reliving the day E. came earth side just as much as i have while piecing their story together.
I met Emily a few years ago as i was her doula for her first baby. I was so excited to hear that she was expecting again. I was even more excited when she contacted me to do her sweet little girls newborn portraits. Isabelle was just perfect and i had great company while doing her session. Here are a few from our session of Miss. Isabelle.
This little beauty was just perfect throughout the entire session! She didn't make a peep and was absolutely adorable! Here is a handful from our session.
I could have photographed this one alll day long. Sometimes its hard to stop Love when babies come in sleepy, and enjoy being posed. His whole session were all of my favorite colours…
Meet 8 day old Zoe:
Oh my….I know I say this all the time but seriously baby girl Zoe is just the prettiest baby girl!! She has given me a bad case of baby fever, haha. She just the sweetest little gal too, I could have snuggled with this cutie pie all day long. She has the most gorgeous head of curly hair hair and the biggest most beautiful set of brown eyes I’ve ever seen on a newborn. Zoe was very happy to keep those eyes open for most of the session. Yep, she definitely knew something was up and she didn’t want to miss one single thing. I love when newborns have such wonderful eye contact. It’s rare to get a picture of them looking directly at me but with my paparazzi like skills (hehe) I’m able to wait for that perfect opportunity to get that most sought after picture. It took a LOT of sweet talking to get Miss Zoe to fall asleep but once she did I was able to capture some very beautiful pictures of her.
Congratulations to this new family of 3!
Meet 8 day old Conner:
Conner was a great model during his session. He did such an amazing job, I was able to capture so many wonderful memories for his family to treasure of him as a newborn forever. Newborn photography is definitely one of those lifetime events that only happens once in your life – a time you can never ever get back no matter how much you wish you could freeze it or go back into time to enjoy it all over again. I can’t say it enough how very priceless newborn photographs truly are. The newborn stage, although when you’re actually facing sleepless nights can seem to last forever, really and truly only lasts for a very short moment. Before you know if, your little one is cooing and crawling…..and then heading out the front door for kindergarten. Giving families memories I’ve been able to capture of their newborn to treasure for a lifetime means so very much to me. Sadly, it’s something I really don’t have myself so I can speak my emotions from my very heart. Other than those….well, not so adorable…..newborn photos the hospital took, that’s all the newborn photographs I have of my “babies”. Newborn photography wasn’t that popular when my oldest were born or even when my youngest was born only 8 years ago. What I wouldn’t give to have just one very nice image of my children as newborns to hang onto and remember all those tiny little details that are so quickly forgotten. Being able to give new parents galleries filled with many pictures of their newborns that features all those sweet little details that bring them back to the moment when they first meet their tiny little baby is such a wonderful feeling for me. I’m forever grateful to each and every one of my clients that have entrusted in me to capture these moments for them and their families to treasure for many of years.
Many congratulations to this new family of 3!!
I have always had a passion for photography and babies, pregnancy etc. So i combined my talents and have finally found my passion. To be present at a miracle and document this miraculous event is an honor. I have photographed several births and was in aww. To present the parents with a story of how their family began is really special.
Why hire a birth photographer?
The photos from your labor and delivery will serve as a beautiful reminder of one of the most important days of your life. Allowing The Birth Photographer to handle this very important task will not only free up Dad or your other support person to be more available to you during your labor and delivery, but it will also ensure that his or her participation is captured on film. Dad won’t have to worry about taking photos, so he’ll be better able to enjoy the moment right along with you. He can be a more active participant. It’s definitely a day worthy of documenting.
About birth photography
Birth is very unpredictable, and the lighting is never ideal. These are not portraits. Jacki photographs births in a photo journalistic style and prefers to use black and white images for your slideshow. The black and white images better reflect the mood of the event, and they help to tone down the graphic nature of birth.
