When should I book my newborn photography session?
This is the question I hear most often.
The best time to book your newborn session is during your second or third trimester. I reserve your due date on my calendar, and once your baby arrives, we'll schedule your session within the first 5–14 days whenever possible.
Booking before your baby is born helps ensure availability and gives you one less thing to think about after delivery.
What age is best for newborn photos?
The ideal time is during the first two weeks after birth. Babies are typically sleepier and naturally curl into the sweet poses parents love.
If your baby is older than two weeks, don't worry. Beautiful newborn portraits are still possible, and every session is customized for your baby.
What should I bring to my newborn session?
You don't need to bring much.
I provide many of the wraps, blankets, bonnets, headbands, and carefully selected props used during your session.
Parents should bring:
Extra diapers
Bottles if bottle-feeding
A pacifier if your baby uses one
Anything sentimental you'd like included
My goal is to make your experience as easy and stress-free as possible.
Are parents and siblings included?
Absolutely.
Some of the most meaningful photographs are the ones that capture your growing family together. Parent and sibling portraits are encouraged because these moments become even more valuable as the years pass.
What if my baby won't sleep?
Every baby is different.
Your newborn session is never rushed. We take breaks for feeding, diaper changes, cuddles, and soothing whenever your baby needs them.
Some of my favorite portraits happen while babies are peacefully awake and looking around.
When should I schedule maternity photos?
Most maternity sessions are photographed between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy.
During this time, your baby bump is beautifully round while you're often still comfortable enough to enjoy your session.
What age is best for milestone photography?
Your baby's first year is filled with incredible changes.
Popular milestone sessions include:
3-4 months for first smiles
6-8 months when baby is sitting independently
12 months for a first birthday or cake smash session
These sessions beautifully document your baby's growth during the first year.
When should I book a cake smash?
Most families schedule their cake smash about 3-4 weeks before their baby's first birthday.
This allows plenty of time to use your portraits for birthday invitations, party decorations, or simply to celebrate this exciting milestone.
What should we wear for family photos?
Choose clothing that feels comfortable and coordinates without matching exactly.
Neutral colors, soft earth tones, and simple patterns photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your family's connection.
