Introducing baby M. 7 days new. I had the honor of photographing her sister 11 months prior. I love when families come back as their family grows. Big sis did a great job with her little sister. Baby M. was just perfect for her Studio session at my home studio in Richmond, VA. Mom chose sage green and pink for her colors adn the bed and swing for props. The deluxe newborn session can take 2-3 hrs. The studio is warmed up to 80 degrees to help keep baby calm and sleepy. I try and photograph family and siblings first then concentrate on just baby. This beautiful baby boy was simply perfection during his newborn photo session in my Richmond, VA studio this past week. It's such a pleasure to photograph these littles.

At 3 weeks old I wasn’t sure if we were going to get a few tummy poses but he knocked it out of the park. He slept right through making it for a lovely, calm experience for his parents. They were able to have a little rest while I worked my magic.

Babies are best photographed before they are 10 days old but sometimes that doesn’t work out so I try my best to pose babies in a safe and comfortable setting.

Sweet little Z. was 9 days old for her session. She was a wake for a few shots but then fell fast asleep. She was simply perfection during her newborn photography session. She was well fed and slept beautifully allowing for so many set ups.

Her mama wanted pinks and white for the session so that is what i pulled. Everything is washed and santized after each session.

This adorable little man graced my studio last week for his newborn photography session. He is such q little doll and super cuddly. I know, it's a tough job... someone has to do it. 
His big brother was so good with him! He slept great for most of his session in my short pump, VA home studio. In the end we did get an open eye shots which the parents wanted.

Here's a sneak peek of beautiful baby G. Her parents flew me out to Nebraska for her newborn session. It was pretty cool to travel to Colorado and rent a car. I got to see Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska. A little back story, a client who used to live in Richmond then moved to Nebraska told a friend who loved my work and flew me out. Little Miss G was just perfect! She was so tiny about 5lbs and we got to use a lot of the parents props since i wasn’t able to travel with a lot.

She's simply the sweetest thing ever!

Darling newborn baby S. 9 days new made her appearance in my studio recently... she even brought along her two big brothers who I also photographed as a newborn.

I hope you enjoy a peek into her session. I love to photograph growing families. I try and photograph siblings and parents first then concentrate on the newborn. The studio gets very warm so be prepared. I have a few puzzles and toys for the older siblings to play with while I photograph their new baby sibling. If the other parent wants to take the older siblings home or back to school that is also an option.

This little one had me working for these images but you wouldn’t know it from the perfect little images.

This gorgeous baby girl needed a lot of coaxing to go to sleep but finally, we were able to get some beautiful shots of her. At 3 weeks old, this is the reason why we like to do newborn photographs between 5-10 days while baby is super sleepy still.

Sunflower minis NOW BOOKING!! | Jacki G. Photography LLC| Richmond, VA| Newborn & Family Photographer

It is that time of year again!! Sunflower mini sessions are NOW booking!! The Sunflower is one of my favorite flowers and a beautiful backdrop to get updated family portraits, baby photos and maternity photos. They bloom for a brief period anytime from July into early September. But, if you miss out on these massive blooms, you can still get beautiful pictures with the many pockets of wild sunflowers around the areas. I will also be having a Studio sunflower backdrop for those who would rather have their baby photographed indoors. This backdrop is ONLY for children.

Here are some of the challenges with photo sessions at those large sunflower fields.

During the late Summer, the sun rises early and sets late. There is harsh, direct sunlight from about 8am to around 6:30-7pm. I usually find myself crossing my fingers and toes, hoping for overcast skies. Direct sunlight means dark, unflattering shadows and squinty eyes for your pictures. . Since it’s better to put the sun at your subject’s back, a photographer only has until the sun clears the horizon to enjoy soft morning light. 

What are the best solutions to these lighting issues? Stick to those limited times of soft light, bring lighting equipment out to the fields, or choose locations with better shade. Everyone loves that amazing golden light mixed with happy sunflowers. But, I encourage you to pray for some clouds!

I have very limited time slots!

I will have several different days to choose from.   There are three different Sunflower patches I use.  A sunflower patch in Hopewell, A smaller sunflower patch in Mechanicsville and a Large sunflower patch in Goochland.  There maybe a fee to enter the farm so be prepared.   The mini session is 15 min and you get 5 digital downloads for $225 plus tax.  

The third challenge is heat and bugs. In August and September, the evenings in Richmond, VA  tend to be hot and muggy. You won’t want to forget your bug repellant.

Spring mini studio sessions were a hit! The weather this early spring has been unpredictable so i chose to add some in studio session dates for the little ones! I have a few backdrops to choose from as well as two Easter bunny outfits for babies between 6 months to 9 months old. The backdrops I have can hold up to two to three children and so much fun. The mini session is located in my short pump, VA home studio. The mini is 15 min and you get 5 digital downloads, each additional download is an additional cost. The outside minis are suitable for families and i try to do a mixture of posed and lifestyle. These sessions are for families of four or greater.
